Shigeru Miyamoto
Nintendo
General Manager
Shigsy has a cult-like status amongst gamers.
As the economy crumbles around us, Nintendo’s not immune to falling profits, but is still doing better than its rivals at Sony and Microsoft. Miyamoto’s promised some exciting games for the coming months, including New Super Mario Bros for the Wii.
The launch of the DSi in April within the UK was heralded as a massive triumph for Ninty, even if it received some criticisms about the incremental changes. 435,000 units were sold in the first week of release in the US, in the UK’s first weekend 92,000 units were reportedly sold. Overall Nintendo’s claiming seven million units have been sold globally, no small feat when the biggest update to the device was the addition of two cameras.
