Andy Rubin
Google
Vice President of Mobile Platforms
2009 is the year of Android.
Android’s exploded onto the scene in the last year, and analysts have predicted their market share will grow by 900 per cent over the next year. Of HTC’s two handsets, both the G1 and Magic have sold over a million units each, and the Hero looks set to do even better.
Rubin joined Google in 2005 after they purchased his Android creation, and he’s worked on the project since then, ensuring product strategy and development goes smoothly for all members of the Open Handset Alliance.
With over seven handsets now announced from manufacturers HTC, LG, Samsung and Motorola, it’s fair to say that 2009 has been the year of Android.
