Based in London, Auchard has covered prickly subjects such as Google, Apple, Microsoft and Yahoo since starting the technology beat at Reuters in 1993.

As Reuter’s head technology reporter, Auchard has seen the rise and fall of many technology giants and their products. From the last 12 months, however, he is most interested in the iPhone 3GS, Dell Adamo and Android netbooks using Qualcomm and ARM chips.

Other than the iPhone, Auchard gets most use out of his Sony e-book Reader, his MacBook Air, and Sony digital voice recorder. Looking forward, Google Wave is at the forefront of his excitement for services launching in the coming year, with the Amazon Kindle and Xbox motion controller following closely behind.
